Teaching materials to go with the start of the Tour de France in Utrecht
The first stage of the 2015 Tour de France started in the city of Utrecht. Utrecht City Council asked DST for assistance in developing a teaching package for this ‘Grand Départ’. To facilitate teachers who want to pay attention to the Tour (start) in an accessible manner. The teaching package had to be suitable for several subjects, both in senior and in junior secondary education.
A classroom of enthusiastic children is a magnet for cameras.
Joyful lesson in three stages
DST developed a digital platform for this project. Basic idea of this platform: “A joyful lesson in three stages”. Three simple questions give some relevant teaching suggestions out of a total of 160 different methods.
1 You choose the type of education; senior or junior students.
2 You specify the class or the subject for which you would like to select a lesson. Or you choose one of the themes.
3 You choose the method that suits you and your students.
Young People’s News Show
Using the filter function on detourindeklas.com, teachers will be able to simply put a customised lesson together. Whether for short-term activities or an interdisciplinary project, teachers decide on what is interesting for his students. The teaching materials are suitable for techniques that are increasingly used in the classroom, such as the IWB and tablets.
When first launched, the package received wide attention from the press. Such a classroom full of enthusiastic children is a magnet for cameras, e.g. for the Young People’s News Show.
